Expert on Demand

supporting business growth through mentorship

Any growth stage business or midsize firm scaling up its offerings, depends on the wisdom and counsel of peers to reach the next level – including high-quality business experts and mentor support.  Edmonton Unlimited, with funding from ERIN, is supporting companies in Edmonton with the Experts on Demand program.

Growing your business to the next level?

The program seeks innovation-based companies with market traction that exhibit a strong desire to grow and scale, and would like to bring on a senior executive or business advisor.

The Experts on Demand program pairs these companies with an experienced entrepreneur or seasoned business executive. The selected expert works with the company to address unique challenges and operational gaps.

The Expert, contracted through Edmonton Unlimited, spends up to two days per week with the company, at no charge, for up to 100 hours as per the service contract.

Entrepreneurs in Residence

Entrepreneurs in Residence are placed in Edmonton’s post-secondary institutions to provide students and alumni with real-life startup experience, answer questions, and help them develop their understanding and confidence.

PSI Business Development Support Program

The BDS program, like the Expert on Demand program, matches entrepreneurs coming out of Edmonton’s post secondary institutions with subject matter experts who will help them move their innovation-based project or startup closer to market.

DEVELOPING NEW BUSINESSES

ERIN, through funding provided to Edmonton Unlimited, help entrepreneurs:

  • Use Lean Canvas to map out and validate their ideas via Business Model 101. A core belief of this workshop is that a solid foundation will set businesses up for success.

  • Learn the basics of user research and product refinement through the Discover and Validation workshop.

  • Assemble and test their minimum viable product so that they can refine and validate their ideas through Preflight’s Build, Test, and Learn program.

  • Craft how they are going to talk about their product or services to maximise customer appeal through Preflight’s Market, Sell, and Pitch program. Participants dive into marketing, sales, and the basics of investment and pitching.

  • Grow skills and develop strategies in as little time as possible with Propel Fast Track which focuses on one essential area at a time rather than touching on a range of different topics in a high-level way. Focus on the topics that interest you or complete them all - with Propel Fast Track, you are the architect of your learning experience.
