What to Expect
The day is organized into a series of conversations between companies and academics, each centred on a specific industry challenge. Researchers and industry professionals engage in facilitated discussions, sharing expertise, perspectives, and ideas in a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment.
Following the event, participating academic teams will provide a high-level, one-page solution responding to the industry question they explored.
Academic teams whose proposed solutions are selected for further development will receive a stipend to support continued collaboration with their research group and the participating organization.
The longer-term objective is to foster partnerships that may evolve into jointly funded projects through programs such as MITACS, Alberta Innovates, or NSERC, increasing the likelihood of successful development, commercialization, and implementation.
Anticipated Outcomes
Participants can expect meaningful outcomes that extend well beyond the event itself, including:
New collaborations between industry and academic experts
Innovative approaches to complex, real-world challenges
Knowledge exchange across disciplines and sectors
Greater alignment between academic research and industry needs
New pathways to collaborative funding opportunities
Increased commercialization potential for research outcomes
Expanded professional networks and future partnership opportunities
Stronger interdisciplinary collaboration
